Pre-Processing Review & Data Minimization
Once data is collected, Encore can provide an accurate assessment of what the data set entails along with an estimate of what the project will cost. Our consultants will analyze the contents of the data quickly and provide the information needed to design an effective data conversion strategy…at no additional cost.
These “First Contact” reports include a summary of all file types in the data set, volume of data within each type, estimated number of pages in the data set, estimated processing time, and an estimate of the total cost to process the data into a reviewable format.
Data Minimization
It is generally not necessary to process and review all — or even most — data. Even a simple case often produces a staggering number of documents to be reviewed in a short period of time. The best strategy for minimizing both expense and the time expended is to electronically reduce the number of documents prior to processing them.
At Encore, we have the know-how to offer proven strategies and the most effective “smart technologies” available for data minimization, from simple filtering and de-duplication to sophisticated concept-based searching. All of our tools allow us to know exactly which documents are selected for processing while documenting the files and reasons that others are deselected. This provides 100% defensibility through accountability for every file, both those to be processed and those to be removed from processing. While each project is different, Encore on average processes only 23% of the data it ingests, saving clients millions of dollars in downstream processing and review costs.
As part of a more sophisticated data minimization strategy, Encore deploys Clearwell Systems technology as part of its end-to-end eDiscovery solution. Through our consultants and menu of unique technologies our clients have been able to:
- Complete early case assessment faster and easier.
- Lower their eDiscovery processing costs by up to 80%.
- Review 90% fewer documents for responsiveness and privilege.
- Reduce cycle time on each eDiscovery project.
- Improve their litigation strategy with a better understanding of case facts.
